A POLISH ACQUAINTANCE IN PARIS SENDS ME THIS NOTE:
we spent the weekend in shock, here in Paris, the shock became more when the idea came up, that this disaster could be self-produced by the president or by the head of the military, who forced the pilot to land... it becomes more and more likely to be the reason for this catastrophe. i feel very sad about this, especially for the pilot, his family and all the people who were in the plane with this guy.
the reaction of the people on the streets is widely seen as a spiritual and very patriotic gesture, which i do not want to deny. but there is another aspect to this: they want to mourn without really understanding what happened, yeah, BEFORE they could even understand it. because, the truth cannot be really communicated any more, now, when the PRESIDENT has been declared a national martyr. i am saying this in all my pieta for the victims and also for the feelings of the Polish people. we will see what the official site will communicate, i am very sad about this and feel also a little ashamed, which shows to me how very polish i still am...
