SEX SCANDAL (WEINER)

This current (May,june2011) scandal in the USA regarding NY Rep. Anthony Weiner is absolutely astounding in the manner with which it is being conflated and he is being demonized by those "liberals"(in name) whose stated values and general intellect should be able to dissect and parse this intelligently- but THAT's not happening. It would be a tragic  loss for the the Dems if they devoured their own and capitulate to an air of debilitating political correctness and self inflated moral high-ground that belies the hypocrisy currently taking place. IF Mr. Weiner survives, this will be a brutal lesson that reveals how many Brutus' surround him with political daggers. Indeed it is somewhat Shakespearian this drama. A telling sign of how much FEAR this story has instilled is how supporters present themselves conditionally with starting statements like "Creepy as Anthony Weiner’s photos are..." (They are, in fact,  as common as mud)
Great AUDIO discussion (33min)from K.(of Albion) that puts a great deal of compassion on the table!
The daily Beast has an interesting article which makes also the point that if MLK's womanizing had been similarly revealed to bring him down- his global philosophical influence just wouldn't exist today.
.
(i wonder if rep. Alan Grayson could have eloquently supported Weiner had he himself not been targeted because of his own outspokenness. And will Sen.Al Franken have the political capital and courage to do so)
A HuffPo entry of support for Weiner. Thought here is still "some" Weiner bashing inbetween the lines- it ends notibly with "...the staunchly private (and pregnant) Huma Abedin, though never known as Mrs. Anthony Weiner, must (if she is planning to continue to be his wife) come to his side and speak of her love for him and belief in him, and the continuation of his work in office, that she has reportedly spoken of both to him and to her closest friends and confidants...."
Some very good finger throtteling from TPM towards the "progressives"
This as a distraction from important issues is highlighted by this Alternet entry
