I spent the last several weeks after the previous stress to now work on a graphic bag idea- to be distributed for free to the public here in Germany. the bag celebrating periods of utopian optimism western culture has experienced since the dawn of WWI end in 1918. A socialist (not communist) state has much humane appeal but is generally victimized by the right as being a scurge against capitalism- this is not and need not be the case. I am far from ever being nor wanting to be a politician or philosopher but if I can deploy objects -mass produced and cheap ones like this that might inspire more openess to searching to build community and social support among people- then I can feel positive in my mission as a visual poet.
[Reality Update] I was not awarded the grant to be able to make this project happen. They couldnt understand it. Indeed had I been famous I am sure they would have taken some scrawls on a napkin more seriously. yes I am annoyed and disappointed and concerned. Perhaps I will look at this as having been liberated from the constraints of those who could have sponsored such a project- some of the elements are most worthy of doing and somehow...I will.
