Finally met up with an old old friend for dinner last night at a brilliant restaurant Rosa Caleta , of note (Jamaican Eats magazine), in Kreuzberg Berlin.
I had the restaurant's anniversary menu no.2 (which started with a spicy bouillabaisse followed by a spicy cross between a fish sheperd's pie and pomme de terre dauphinois gratiné and finished with a pear baked in port-wine in a small pasty tray).
I might do an installation for the restaurant at some point int he next couple of months
I'll consider creating :
- A Piranesi styled paper mural/drawing of Haiti's 'Palais Nationale' as a (romantic) ruin
- an extravagant tropical gift-basket of cotton, rum, cigars and sugar (maybe available as an item that can be sold) with a museum like label clarifying these items as being part of a significant history of forced Caribbean labor.
I had not seen A since a year nor B who joined us as well. B looked amazing- Just fucking amazing! his middle age makes him look all the more gorgeous as he fills out and looks fast and sturdy. He's always looked like a 'tom-of-finland' and this has ALWAYS been distracting. I no longer share the same connection to club culture of which he and A are fused with. Bizarre "feeling" to find someone you know soooo well and since such a loooong time to be such a turn-on that you would never act on. What a complex set of conflicting sentiments.
