NEWTONESQUE

I never understood why so many photographer friends have a deep dislike for Helmut Newton's work. Indeed the parody and rift below perhaps reveal aspects of HM's formulas (which i still like). I have known some people who live that decadent life of affluenza.
I am not certain if this image is precisely a Newtonesque quote (I believe it is by Greg Gorman in "Just Between Us") or one from Brassai (who Newton shares his creative DNA with). The Newtonesque legacy is currently in the hands of Austrian photographer Ellen von Unwerth. (Two followwing fotos by HN)

The cannibalism that exists withing thew visual world is phenomenal. This image is most certainly used as a reference for the LadyGaga videos decades later. The XRay images recall for me the works of early 20C art-photographers

This fashion statement is done using bleach. I am curious to try this on various fabrics to see how it works. i.e.Velvet
This is a StainedGlass piece by Belgian artist Wim Delvoye(sp?) Similar in witt to Damien Hirst's Butterfly paintings. (or inspirations tag)
This 1960s sculptural artwork by Allen Jones is within the Newtonsesque sphere of interest and influence. One can be 100% certain HM has seen them, either in real life or via documentation. I am pondering a redo of this AJ work- perhaps using men (black, white, asian) as sculpture or as *photography...
This rather wicked SylvieFleuryesque work "Burberry Rifle" is by SF based artist  Peter Gronquist (b.1979)! his stronger artworks are his sculptural weapons & trophies.
