MESS 2.0
While the middle-east seems to be in the throws of a free-fall with uprisings aspiring toward revolution(s)- I cant help but think that all of these messes are interconnected in some way.
Doesn't the imperative to sell arms for private profit fosters a frenzy of security-angst as well as feed various dictatorship's thirst for control and power? In the mean time such a vaccumm creates desperation among those who are losing everything they had or thought they had (in America) the-security-budget-vs-the-necessities-of-americans
Taibi's Rolling stone article about the criminality of WallStreet/Bankers et al is echoed in Danny Schecter's film PLUNDER (youtube 13min clip)
The link to the above article from Schecter's MediaChannel website was down during this post.
If it stands to reason that PR as we know it is done to influence peoples choices and actions then how is it possible to say with a straightface that mass distributed speech with hateful content is ineffectual in inluencing (the choices and actions) of millions in America today? Influencing people , subtly or explicitly is a huge billion dollar industry (by it's creators as well as those who commission the influence). It's a bald lie (thus part of the PR machine) when it is repeated again and again that it is only free-speech and is not incitement.
“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” –Teilhard de Chardin “Don’t bend; don’t water it down; don’t try to make it logical; don’t edit your own soul according to the fashion. Rather, follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly.” — Franz Kafka Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what jean-luc Godard said: ‘it’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to.’ — Jim Jarmusch (source) "Allegories are, in the realm of thoughts, what ruins are in the realm of things" — Walter Benjamin (The Origin of German Tragic Drama)
Is he ‘un artiste’, ‘een schatje’, ‘ein Possenmacher’ or ‘a rambling n*gger in lederhosen? Find out for yourself as you enter the wonderful world of Cocopierre. Where nothing is what it seems to be, or is(n’t) it?
