Basic 101 on Perspective correction: <http://www.f-stop.com/p-c.htm>
More basic 101 I dont easily understand(yet) <http://photo.net/equipment/canon/tilt-shift>
Also basic101 worth looking at <http://www.panoramafactory.com/shiftlens/shiftlens.html>

THIS website <http://cow.mooh.org/projects/tiltshift/diyguide.html> gives a tutorial on how to create your own DIY Tilt/shift perspective correction lens(!)
Here are some samples/examples of those DIY lens <http://cow.mooh.org/projects/tiltshift/diyexamples.html>
with additional explanitory texts here at <http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/article_pages/tilt_and_shift_ts-e.html#_6_degree_swing> and
a wikipedia entry at <https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Perspective_control_lens>
I didnt really know or understand much about these lens and what they do precisely.
The images from The Shrine of the Divine Negress would have been so much better had such a technique been used. Fortunately photoshop can remedy some of it. That is the cheapest way to deal with it- but with the loss of some of the picture plane.
These lens are used to create the 'miniature- look' that is occasionally used by some art photographers.
Where might this be interesting i wonder? and perhaps with people?
Also worth considering is/are Lensbabies <http://www.dansdata.com/lensbaby.htm>
"...The Lensbaby is the brainchild of professional photographer Craig Strong, who invented the Lensbabies Flexible Lens Mounting System (to give it it's full name) in an effort to replace his Holga film camera with a digital equivalent. It is described on the Lensbaby website as "the hybrid love children of an old-fashioned bellows camera and an up-tight tilt-shift lens", producing photographs with " the same soft, roughed-up look produced by a Holga". I've never used a Holga before, so I didn't really know what to expect from the Lensbaby, but I was anticipating trying out a new photographic method that would produce unique results and actually be fun...." <source> In German/Deutsch <wikipedia> it is also called Lensbaby! and mentions also Lomography.
all that said....I dont have $$ for a camera let alone a lens(!)
